It is required for all applicants who want to be admitted to practice law in Ohio. The Ohio Bar Examination is now administered using the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE). The UBE is a two-day exam that consists of three parts:

  • Multistate Essay Examination (MEE): The MEE is a six-hour exam that consists of six essay questions on topics such as contracts, torts, criminal law, constitutional law, and real property.
  • Multistate Performance Test (MPT): The MPT is a two-hour exam that consists of two performance test questions. Performance test questions are designed to assess an applicant’s ability to apply legal principles to real-world legal problems.
  • Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE): The MPRE is a three-hour exam that tests an applicant’s knowledge of ethical rules and professional responsibility.

To Register as a Candidate for the Ohio Bar Exam 2023/2024, you must:

  1. Be a law student in good standing at an accredited law school.

  4. Be a legal resident of Ohio or intend to become a legal resident of Ohio within one year of taking the bar exam.
