GATE Exam Subjects 2024 Complete List, Detailed Overview of GATE Subjects :- GATE, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, is a national-level entrance exam for postgraduate engineering programs in India. It is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the National Institutes of Technology (NITs).
The GATE syllabus is divided into two sections: General Aptitude (GA) and the Core Discipline. The GA section is common for all papers and tests the candidate’s basic skills in quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, logical reasoning, and analytical ability. The Core Discipline section tests the candidate’s knowledge in the specific engineering discipline they have chosen to take the exam for.

General Aptitude (GA)
- Quantitative Aptitude: Number Systems, Linear Algebra, Basic Statistics, Probability, Problem Solving

Core Discipline
The Core Discipline syllabus for each engineering discipline is available on the GATE website.
The GATE exam is a 3-hour, 100-question exam. The GA section has 15 questions and the Core Discipline section has 85 questions. The exam is conducted in a computer-based format.
The GATE score is used by admissions committees of top engineering colleges in India to shortlist candidates for admission. The GATE score is also used by some companies to recruit engineers.

GATE 2024 Two Test Paper Combinations
Here are the GATE 2024 two-paper combinations:
- PH CS, DA, EC, EE, MA, XE
- PI ME, XE
- ST CS, DA, MA, XH
- XE AE, CE, CH, CY, DA, ME, MT, PH, PI
The following are the conditions for the two-paper combinations:
- Candidates can choose to appear in one or two papers.
- The first paper must be chosen from the list of 20 core papers.
- The second paper must be chosen from the list of allowed combinations.
- The combinations are subject to availability of infrastructure and scheduling constraints.
The GATE 2024 two-paper combinations are subject to change. The final list of combinations will be released in the GATE 2024 Information Brochure.

For most GATE papers, the Section wise marks distribution is as follows:

However, for the following GATE papers, the Section wise marks distribution is different:
